Annual Walkthrough Inspections
In 2015, the US EPA published new regulations for underground storage tanks that include updated testing and inspection requirements. In addition to now requiring 30-Day Walkthrough Inspections, UST owners and operators must conduct an annual walkthrough inspection of the UST system.
Annual walkthrough inspections must include:
Checking containment sumps for damage and leaks within the containment area; checking for releases to the environment
Removal of liquid or debris found in containment sumps
Checking double-walled containment sumps for leaks in the interstitial area, if applicable
Checking hand-held release detection equipment (i.e.: groundwater bailers or tank gauge sticks)
